for some reason my alerts did show up in my email on my gmail account. they
were also in my google callendar although I had put them in my Apple callendar.
don't know how that works but I'd rather have too many reminders than none.

iPhone Calendar app. The instructions I gave worked for me becaus
I’m not aware of any way to have the calendar app send an email alert, It will
however, send regular notifications, that will show up on all devices signed
into the same Apple ID.

scanning your eMails and found mention of the event. Sometimes, once it finds
such things, it will tentatively place an event in your calendar.
