Hi, Actually, that is not totally true. You can use the Apple TV with your HDMI connected to your receiver without a TV present. You could then listen to music, movies and TV shows via your Apple TV connected to the receiver. Other than accessing NetFlicks and such, I don't see the value tho

I have my MacMini hooked up to the home theatre and it sounds great. I used the digital optical output and run it to the digital optical in on the receiver. It does all the 5.1 output from DVDs and such as well although you lose volume control on the mini and have to do that through the receive
