oh, weird!! I dunno then! I could see my drive from the desktop fine
when I was using leopard. it's only since upgrading to snow leopard
that it's been a bit flaky. still, try a new finder window, or /
volumes, I'm sure either one will give you access to it.

Actually, the problem occurs on computers using in Tiger and Leopard
(I don't have Snow Leopard yet). I will try your suggestion to open a
new finder window, however. Hopefully, that will work for me, too.

Check /volumes. I had the same trouble and the external usb drive
showed up in /volumes.

I think this is a bug in sl. mine does the same thing. I find the
easiest way to get to it if it doesn't show up is to open up a new
finder window and go to the sidebar and look under devices. you'll see
it there and can then access it.
