I had this problem as well, the first time you use it, it had to download some
additional components. I would try 1 of 2 things. First, I would try waiting
3 to 5 minutes and then doing command-F5 and see if Fred comes up. If that
doesn't work, see if you can get some sighted help to read the

Wait until the sound, press command + r for 3 secs and let go.
Then, after 2 minutes or so press command f5.
I am doing it as I type on another mac running ml and it works.

How long does one wait five minutes? I was waiting for three minutes. I just
turned off my Mac, waited for it to shut down, switched it on, when i heard the
chime, pressed command R and let go after 30 seconds.
