By changing all the categories except Default and Content to a different voice,
I’ve made the VO-Cmd-Arrow keys say Default every time. However, the changes
work for Content as well. Changes also work when I switch to a different voice.
I think this must be a change with Yosemite as
Nope! it was always set to default in the content category, as with all the
other categories as well. I didn’t change anything in the various categories.
What is interesting to me is the fact that the Speech attribute hotkeys were
saying the category name along with the attribute name, example “

The commands for changing speech attributes on the fly have always only worked
on the default voice. As a bilingual Mac user, I always set the Content voice
to Default so that I can read in either French or English and switch the voice
rapidly. Perhaps when looking in the VoiceOver

Yes, but that checkbox only reveals the additional categories of voice
settings. Checking it does not alter the workings of the speech attribute
hotkeys (VO CMD arrow keys).

There is a checkbox in the Voice tab of Speech preferences that allows you
to set the typing voice and other options. Maybe, you had that checked?

I have an update on this problem. I don’t know what I did, but now the speech
attribute hotkeys (VO command arrows) are working normally.
Now when I VO command arrow right and left I only hear the attribute name and
not the category as well. for example voice, rate, pitch, volume etc, and the
