I do not doubt they work. I did this to see if it was my editing
or something else. It apparently is something else which I need to
figure out.

I know it works - I use it all the time. Are you sure the change stuck? That
is, are you certain the commander points to the new script, and that it didn't
somehow revert to the previous (broken) one?

Alex,
I retrieved the script from the zip archive and put it in the proper
folder and pointed the commander to it. Still does not work. So now I
know its not the script itself.
Perhaps a setting somewhere? I did enable commanders.

Ok I put the script into ~/library/scripts. I see where I went
wrong, I used the recents from the Go menu to get to the library folder.
Then went into Commanders again and set that, still nothing happens.
I am using your date and time script, did not touch anything but the
keywords.
What's your new script, at least the first few lines, look like? Also, as
others have said, it is generally easier to use ~/library/scripts, or somewhere
else in your home folder, so you don't run into these password and other
permissions problems.

Well I moved the script to another location, edited it and moved it
back.
This is one of the Talking Dashboard scripts, date and time. I have
gone into VO Utilities, Commanders and pointed to this new script. It is
not working but I can go back and point to the default timeofday script
Hi,
I recommend doing what it says and make a duplicate. That way you can hammer

Thanks and he had the correct owner. Not sure what happen, but the issue was
corrected. Like I said, an @ sign ended up on the owner's name if I recall
correctly. Either way, something got hosed, but we got it cleared up.
Permissions can be a funny thing and sure can cause some problems. :)

My guess is he needs to change the owner of the file. If you do an ls -l
on files in both locations it should list an owner name which should be
the shortname for the account, along with the permissions. Might want to
do a man on chown and chgrp which are the commands to change a file's
owner a

Make sure you make a Time Machine backup just before you shut down
your MacBook. Also, don't forget to eject the backup disk before

Hi folks,
Well I think I'm going to go and install Snow Leopard in my usual Erase and
Install way. However, I have a slight problem.
I have just updated Leopard to the latest release and have run Repair
Permissions twice. Apparently permisions are still not correct. Does this
matter if I am g
