I forgot to say it seems to not work with earphones or speakers when it's not
working and when it is working it works with both your phones and speakers. I
really haven't done much with it through airplay or through the Apple TV.

In addition, hardware-wise, if you accidentally hit the Mute button, F10, then
hit the up or down volumes, it will return to the state it was at prior to the
hitting of the Mute button.
