of course you cant. That's how they were programmed. I don't know why you would
want to change the pitch or inflection of those if they did have that capability

Hi. To be perfectly honest with you, I can't say I'm too excited about
these voices. I can honestly say that I've never been that fond of
them, even on windows. Maybe its just me. Just my personal opinion.

Hi,
I find the fact that you can't change these parameters quite
disappointing. Guess there isn't anything we can do about it though.
I was looking forward to using these new voices with emacspeak. Without
the ability to change pitch and intonation it makes them almost useless
for emacspeak. O
Hey everyone. Just to clear things up, I've had the Nuance voices on my PC and
you can't change the pitch or intonation of the voices. That's how Nuance
programmed them, although for Tom I'm not sure why they didn't implement his
ability of doing exclamations like they had in his demo on the Nua

You're right Zack, I can't change them with the sapi5 versions either.

I've never been able to do that on I O S, nor with the sapi versions on
Windows, so I don't think that's an Apple problem per sey. I think it's
more the nature of the beast in the voices themselves.

You're probably right. Still, I do wonder if there is a reason for this
inflexibility on Apple's part. I don't know enough about programming or
licensing concerns, but perhaps either or both of those came into play here.
Best,
Zack.

I'm can't confirm that in Windows. But if they are full SAPI 5 compliant
voices, such as NeoSpeech Julie, pitch and intonation can be changed.
And do you really want to compare a Mac to Windows?
I may be wrong, but I believe you can change the pitch of Samantha in an iPHone.

Hi,
I don't know about you, but I don't recall being able to change the pitch of
these voices under Windows either. SOme voices simply have this limitation,
such as the Acapella group's.
Best,
Zack.

I can confirm this. I also tried to change the pitch, to no avail. And, when
I experienced the problem I described this morning of no intonation or pause to
indicate end of sentence, I tried changing the intonation, and that didn't work
either.
Cheers,
Donna
