Press CMD-Shift-A to open the Applications folder. then press U to go to
Utilities, and open that. There you'll find an app called Disk Utility, launch
it. In the app, you'll see an option that says repair disk emissions. Press
Enter, and you're golden. It did solve my lag problem, too, so

For the lag issues, have you tried completely restarting the Mac? Also,
have you done a permissions repair. On one of my systems, I had the lag, but
these two steps have eliminated it completely. I am not experiencing it on my
other systems.
