David, I have the same problem and as of yet, have not found a work-
around. I'm definitely looking though as it's a pain to use screen
readers from a laptop.

Unfortunately it is a known problem that the caps lock key does not
pass through to a vM under Fusion correctly. I believe that the key
is passed, but it is passed as a single pres and not as being held down.
You can try using a program like SharpKeys to remap the capslock
