Mine dint' even mention xp, and the disk did have sp2, so I think it's a vitage
issue.

Do you remember if you chose ntfs or quick format or what they call
them when installing windows?
How large is your windows partition and your mac os x?
Are you running latest mac os x with latest bootcamp that speaks about
all flavours of windows7 when setting it up and it never mentions x

The Mac is new. I just got it like two weeks ago. Yes. I did have sighted help
installing XP. I've tested it, as I've installed various programs, and all
seems to be working well.

Here are links to 3 relevant Apple KB articles regarding the supported versions
of Windows, which Mac models they will run on, and which versions of Bootcamp
are required.
The following KB article states that drivers for XP and Vista are no longer
supplied or supported for 3 recent mac model li
So, sounds like it simply won't do it any longer. That really really sucks.
