I really like AppleCare for laptops as they get banged around a lot. For
phones and desktops not as much. Like most extended warranties they are
betting that you won't need any help so it's just profit. Most failures
I've had in desktops were hard drives since that's one of the few moving
parts

Well, poor Apple. They replaced my charger. Don't do what I did. I wrapped it
around it's self one time too many and broke the cord in it
I paid for an extended warranty on my MacBook Pro. Last Tuesday, my computer
said "you are running on auxiliary power." I said "so what computer! "T

I had the same experience with my MacBook Pro a couple of years ago. I
wound up with a 500GB drive as well under the Apple Care Plan. Well worth
it.
