Yes I am inclined to believe this is normal behavior. I turned off
background refresh, will see if that helps any.

This sounds like expected behavior for a watch that is about 3 years old.
You might try looking for apps that may be running in the background, and see
if you can eliminate any activity that may be draining your battery.
