A VoiceOver search i.e. VO with the F key or using item chooser could let you
jump directly to the output output source that you want without moving through
the other fields.

Kelly, go to the extra's menu and access the volume. In there you will be
able to access your outputs without activating them. I'm not in front of my
Mac so can't give exact steps but this should get you going.

This is due to the mouse cursor following the VO cursor, which is the preferred

Also, if you're on the finder, you can empty the trash by pressing
Command+Shift+Delete. No need of going to the dock and emptying it there. HTH.
