my phone seems to be doing fine today. maybe I'll check the app switcher just
to make sure things aren't running that I don't want.

But when starting it again the apps in the app switcher are not active.
THey only become active when opening the app.

Well, it sounds strange but if its hot then you might turn it off for a while.
Its not good when electric components get to hot.

Turn it back on. You should be good.
Usually there is some process running that is cleared with a restart, so you
should be OK.
