Yes, now I know what you are referring to. When you go to the MenuExtras area, and select the Encrypt.me item, it opens an interface. To close the interface, just do CMD + Tab, and select Finder or any running application, and this will close the Encrypt.me

A great way to go is to set up a server for like $5 per month and install open VPN. There are totally accessible clients for Mac, Windows, IOS and Android and you can have as many clients as you want when you run your own server with out a per seat price. Open VPN software is also totally open
