You can get the OEM version from Amazon as I did, and yes it was expensive. I
haven't got my I Mac yet so am existing with my I phone only and have been
doing that for a few weeks now. So will be interested to hear what's windows 8
is like with VM.

Unfortunately, you're going to have to buy the OEM version, which is
considerably more expensive than the $40 upgrade price they want.
