I did as you suggested and redownloaded it. I was reading some instructions
that said access permission would need to be granted. nothing lilke that was
asked for when I reinstalled it. where’s the table in system prefs that shows
the apps that have permission? I’ve done some poking around but c
I’ve not had this issue. Maybe uninstall the program completely including
deleting the folders it leaves behind, then redownload the program.

What do you mean? What I’m doing is going to the apps folder where it is and
pressing command down arrow to open it. Command O does the same thing is there
another way?

No. I forgot that it’s one of those programs you’re supposed to do that with.
Some ask you where they should be installed when you open them. It didn’t get
installed properly because I don’t see it’s folder in my home folder. I can’t
find a way to get it out so I can start over.

sometimes when I'm installing an app it'll ask me where I want it and then put

I deleted the app and the
downloads folder. I downloaded a new copy of the install app. now I can't get
it to open. it's from an unidentified developer so I clicked the lock in system
prefs but now nothing at all happens when I try to open it. no messages or
anything.

Still works for Me. I had to delete the app entirely from the apps folder then
download a clean copy from the site. I also made sure the folder it creates for
downloads was deleted.
