Good Morning Donna,
It is generally been my experience that control with a arrow key moves to
beginning of line. I was wondering if perhaps with the ISO defined keyboard if
Apple remapped the functionality usually associated with option-arrow to be
associated with control-arrow since that appea
Jonathan,
On the Mac, control plus arrow moves by letter, not word.

I have no idea exactly what happens since any Google search I tried just says

Jonathan,
I noticed there is a Spanish ISO keyboard in addition to Spanish
without ISO. So these keyboards essentially remap the physical keyboard?
It appears that is what Donna experienced.

Oh! I've often wondered why there wasn't an international keyboard for the

Donna,
First of all, I believe you said your keyboard selection was ISO which is a
very specialized keyboard listed under “other languages”. I am not quite sure
how it works. For those that have learned touch typing in the US but need to
input a bit of accented characters there is besides the o
That's good to know, Anne. I can well believe that I may have changed

I’m still using Sierra, but for years now I’ve had two keyboards configured on
my Mac since French uses so many different accents. I’ve never had a problem
switching keyboards and the French layout has never interfered with the
functioning of any keys.

No, I never got around to looking at the keyboard. I'm pretty comfortable
entering diacritics with the accent key on the US keyboard, so I probably won't
play with the Spanish one again till I have some time on my hands.

Taking a break from housework. I removed Spanish from Languages and
Regions. Interesting that it was still in Keyboard prefs so removed that
too. Now the text input menu is as it was before.
Have you looked at the character viewer in that menu? Might be

Hi ET,
Mostly I added the Spanish keyboard for grins. I may give it another go
someday, but for now, I'm just sticking with US.

Donna,
I was curious so I went to Languages and Regions and added Spanish.
This also added the Spanish keyboard in Keyboard preferences. Then I
went to menu extras and could not find the text input menu. That is
because it changed to US which is still my preferred language. So this

Yeah, I don't think I'll ever change that setting again. lol

Yes. But then I removed it again once all this started happening. If you go
into Extras, and go past battery status, you'll see it. I had just assumed it
was a second occurrence of the control that appears under Keyboard prefs, but

Maybe that control in extras is app-specific, or even trickier,
document-specific, and the one in System Preferences is for everything else.
Could be useful, although you’d have to really be good at remember what you use

You had installed a Spanish keyboard right? I followed the trail
from the text input on menu extras. It was under the Input tab in
keyboard preferences, right? Just curious in case I add a keyboard.

Thanks. I can't take much credit, though. It was sheer dumb luck. Since I

the rest of my life without looking at it in the extras menu. I just assumed
