I think once the BrailleNote says Bluetooth once in Terminal Mode, you have to
press enter again. If the pairing is successful, it should start displaying. I
think the hard thing to determine is just because the BrailleNote says that
it's paired with the Mac, doesn't mean it's alway

Your instructions worked really well, up until I pressed enter in terminal mode
when the display said "bluetooth." It shows a blank screen on the brailleNote,
but it recognised the pairing and everything. Do I need to turn voiceover off
and on again? I'll try it.

Well, the only reason I have to remove the pairing from active sync is
that it's the only way it seems to pair with the Macbook strange I
know.
