also, in the Text Edit info, it does say version 1.5 and last modified in
February. I do not see it listed in the app store, but like Brad I would assume
it would be updated with the OS.

Yes, I am awaiting the day you send me your new Mac Studio. A restart seems to
have solved the problem. It’s odd, since I had just started up the machine this
morning but that’s how these things go I guess.

Would not text edit be updated when a macOS update is done? If running the
latest version of macOS, I would think you would also be running the latest

Herbie,
Check the version of textedit.app in your applications folder. It should be
version 5 or higher. If not, maybe download a new copy from the App Store.

I tried all the things you described, and I'm not experiencing any issues with
TextEdit on 2021 14 inch MacBook Pro with M1 pro processor and 16 GB RAM,
running macOS Monterey 12.3.
Did not try anything with pages.
Perhaps it is an Intel thing.

Running a Macbook pro 2019. For some reason, I cannot get Text Edit to open
since the latest Monterey update. It freezes on me. What’s interesting though
is I can open files in it no problems, but it freezes with Command N and if I
open it from the Doc, nothing. Pages seems like it is also slow
Hi,
It stayed in the file I was working on and we’ll see what happens when I go to
a new one. It was getting stressful going in and out of the file every time I
wrote something.

Hi there again
In my case, I was having focus until I got to page 2. Somebody on this list
told me about command shift w for TextEdit. That tells TextEdit to wrap to
window. I think it stays put once you do the command because after I do it, I
haven't had to do it again. I am not sure if that i
I’ll try it. What happens is that text edit stops telling me what I’m typing
and loses its focus.
Thank youf ro the suggestions.

I am not sure if this is the same thing, but I had trouble with TextEdit
yesterday; pressing command shift w made the difference.

Hi,
I normally do my revisions in text edit. If I want to delete or change the
spelling of a word, Text Edit loses focus and doesn’t let me know what letters
were deleted until I come back in. I don’t remember having this problem before
and I upgraded to IOS 8 in September? I thought it was
