Having upgraded to Yosemite, I have just discovered that I can’t read any of my
pdf files in Preview.
I open a file in Preview, voiceover announces “pdf content group”. I interact
with it and voiceover announces “static text. I can’t seem to do anything with
it from that point
Have had one or two pdf files like you described, one of which was a
product return form so I had to convert it anyway to a plane text
format where I could edit it easier, thus text edit. So in these
cases have used Abby Fine reader to convert it ove and then just work
on the or read or ed

It's been a while since I accessed pdf files in Preview. What
actions/keystrokes do you employ to read pdf documents? I have a feeling I may
not have used the most efficient methods for accessing the these files. Thanks.

Hello Amber,
The PDF documents you are unable to read could either be protected or just
images. If they are the latter, you'll need an OCR application to read them.
