When I switched from Windows my email client let me export my mail boxes to
.mbx files. Do you have an option like that? Apple mail imported them just
fine like that. And even though I was using pop mail with gmail the gmail had
stored my addresses so it was no problem.

I did some research and didn't see anything. Your best bet might be to
set up Imap or see if you're already using imap, then you'll only need
to export your address book, which can probably be done in .csv or
something.
