The thing is, I fly on long international flights where I need my
whole iTunes library available, even when the phone is in Airplane
Mode. I don't want to be stuck in a plane and find that some track
won't play because there's no web access. See my problem?

If you have your songs in I cloud you don't have to sync the same with your
phone as they should be there when you sign into I Cloud using your phone if
your Mac is in the Cloud too as your Mac library will already be there. I just
get my phone to sync Apps and podcasts and books.

Maybe it's one of the settings in your phone sync. You don't have to get
all the songs. When you have your phone connected to iTunes check the
Music tab to be sure the "Entire music library" radio button is checked.
If you choose Selected playlists, artists, albums and genres then you
might not
I'm not sure. I don't see why though.

I'm sure this has been covered. But I have activated Music
Match. I just went to test how many tunes were in my iTunes library.
My iPhone 4 says there are 2400 or so. There should be over 3K. I
know certain tunes couldn't be matched. I went to my iTunes library
on my computer. wh
