One other possibility especially if you have the messages associated with the
mailing list in their own folder or smart folder is to interact with the mail

My understanding is that this can be done as a sighted person, can be done if
you classic view, or I believe I had a AppleScript that would change the order.
For the sighted I understand that the columns can be dragged, but none of the
VoiceOver techniques for dragging appear to work for
