I use the tab key to go to the mail preview pane and it reads
automatically. I'm having a bit of a problem with consistency but
navigation in mail is getting better. Make sure you have quick nav
off. It drove me nuts for a while until I realized it had been turned
on by mistake. To toggle

Hey.
I did as you told me and guess what? it didn't work, i still have the
same problem. Wonder if it's text, text area or text field that was to
be changed? And btw here, the default for the text area is medium.

I found that the messages read if you set the default verbosity to
high in the voiceover utility. You can still turn off the
announcements and junk that you don't want to here.
