I believe we found the problem. I had to call Apple Care and ended up speaking
to a senior advisor. It turns out Apple Mail went into a loop with IMAP. It
would try to send a message, fail, then try to store that unsent message on the
server which it couldn't reach in the first place, fail, repe
I have no idea why, but recently Mail has begun delaying while composing
messages. It happens from time to time and the delay lasts a second or two,
then the characters entered all come up at once. I wonder what has changed to
cause this. Any ideas? Thanks. This happens in Mac OS 10.7.3.
