Phew, thanks guys! It took a few attempts, but the holding down the power
button for a few seconds worked.
That was a bit tech scary. Lol!
I even tried the control-command-power, and that wasn't working.
Anyway, when my Mac came back, an error report popped up, and I sent it off to
Mac.

Hi traci,
this may be just a slight sleep glitch. the way to do this is a force restart.
to do this, hold the power button down for a few seconds until the system
powers off, then give it a few seconds and restart.
