I wish there was. I have asked Apple Accessibility for a keyboard short cut to
return VO speech to the inbuilt output. Here's hoping they fix the issue in
Mavericks. Until they do, I just don't use bluetooth headsets with my Mac. I'm
going to try to get some non-bluetooth wireless headset but I
Well, I finally got a sighted person to select my normal output. Oddly, cmd-f5
was completely useless after that, giving me an error sound. The reason the
computer didn't shut down before was that Xcode wanted me to install the new

Alex,
I've had that sort of thing happen on one of my older XServe's at work. They
don't have built-in sound so I use either USB speakers or USB headset. I've
just tried it in the first state, whether VO was on or off I wouldn't know. If
it didn't work, then I just pressed cmd-w a few times,
Well, I can't even tell if VO is on, since I toggled a few times hoping it
would return to normal before I asked the list what I should do. I can't get
the system preferences suggestion to work either way. Hopefully a sighted

'Hi all,
I was playing with a bluetooth headset today. Now, I can hear system sounds
through my regular speakers, but Voiceover is totally silent. What did I do,
and more importantly, how do I fix it? The headset is off, so why would vo not
return to my speakers if system sounds have? Thanks.
