1. Spotlight can be invoked with command space. At least, that's what I use all
the time. There is another possibility but to be honest I don't know about the
extra options.
2. Where is your downloaded dmg file? Most likely, it is in your downloads
folder. If you have Lion, press

press command space or vo m 3 times.

how Ricardo suggested or go to finder, command shift h then write download and
it will get your down load folder up and you do command o to open it.

by default, downloads will go to your download folder. From the finder, press
command option L to open your downloads folder.
