That's the odd thing, though. I've used that method before, to confirm that my
file is going where I want, but it still ends up in a subfolder.

need to drill down further into a selected location's subfolders, or the folder

• The file is first directed to the location displayed in the “Where” pop-up in
the main Save dialog.
• If you interact with the List view table, then various things could occur.

I also experience this hit ands miss behavior from time to time. I find that
when I stay in list view and open folders with command-down arrow, I am able to
pretty much always predict where files will go. Column view has never been a
sure fire approach here.

I get this behaviour too, even in column view sometimes. The Mac save dialogs
confuse me quite a bit. It always feels a bit hit and miss. There's the pop up
button and the side bar, and I never know for sure where things are being saved
to. So you're not alone Alex. Sorry I can't help.

Almost always use column view and if I point to a folder then whatever I'm
moving or copying goes in that folder. I don't have to open it. I've never
had any other results.
