I am having an interesting problem with this. I have a facebook user name
and created the Jabber account using the instructions for FB chat. However, I
keep getting prompted for my password every time I try to log in. I enter my

I'm guessing that this is because they have not yet created a user name for
themselves?

Ok, discovered the fix for contacts being read as random numbers. You need to
change contact name format under the view menu to alias to have the contact
read properly. If you choose user, you will get numbers until the contact
sets-up a user name under there FaceBook account settings.

That feature no longer works, remove that account and create a jabber account.
To use jabber your facebook account will need a username, you can assign one in
facebook preferences.
Then log into facebook via your jabber account on Adium, your username would be
your account name @chat.facebook.c
YOu may have considered this but are you sure some of your contacts are
actually online? I thought I had the same problem when in reality it was just
that no one was online, apparently everyone is out shopping for black Friday or
something.
