THis can happen on POP servers if if you keep messages on the server and one
of your mail preference files gets corrupted. I have seen some applescripts
perhaps even mentioned on this list that will analyze your Inbox and delete
duplicates.

For some reason, all e-mail messages in my Inbox which were generated before
today are suddenly showing twice. I tried quitting out of Mail and going back
in, but this is still happening. Does anyone have an explanaiton and a way to
get rid of this problem without deleting individual messages,
