There’s an issue with your idea about HomeSharing from the external drive. In
order to set up HomeSharing, you need to be running a iTunes with a computer

If these movies were purchased through iTunes, there is an even easier option.
As long as the “Show iTunes in the Cloud Purchases” checkbox is checked from
within the Store pane of iTunes Prefs, you can leave the movies up in the
