Well, based on the calibration problems mentioned by the Digit-Eyes team, I assumed some form of absolute lighting that the app knows and can filter would be required. That's why I mentioned the flash; I figured a color identifier would have you hold the phone within an inch or two of the object

Honestly, how well does this app work? I imagine you'd need an iPhone so you can use the flash? I heard somewhere that the makers of Digit-Eyes were looking into color identification, but they didn't finish it because it was impossible to identify lighting conditions that could throw off the hew
