ABBYY FineReader Pro is a scanning/OCR app that works exceptionally well on the
Mac. I don't know what a Zoom X is, so can't speak to that. Although FR Pro
works with a wide range of off-the-shelf scanners.

I'm using it with a Cannon scanner that we just bought via the Apple Store and
it's working great.
