I realise apple is trying to prevent there processers from melting but this to
my opinion is poor design flaw. We should like in windows be able to keep the
lid clised and use our usb keybords or what not. I have submitted feedback to
apple about this plenty of times with no change.
Take care
Yep, that's what happened exactly!

I have tried this with no display attached and it doesn't seem to work, so I
guess a display is necessary.

Ype that's correct. It would be nice that way I could put my mac on the uppoer
shelf of my desk and use my bt keyboard or eat dinner on the bottom shelf.

Hi!
I personally think it's really cute when my little Mac goes to sleep, but there
are times when I want my Mac to be closed and still be awake. We had Insomniacs
once, but I believe development on that project has ceased and isn't accessible
either, mainly because it uses status bar icons as
The only way I can see to have the mbp stay awake is to use software to do it
but mone user melted his processer doing it which to me os poor designing on
apple's part.

Hi!
The Apple article linked to earlier only works if you do have an external
display, however. I tried this a long time ago with a bluetooth keyboard and
no extra display, and while the Mac would wake up, it kept falling asleep which
would result in a constant waking up/falling asleep cycle a
Hi Kimberly - I usually work with my macbook closed, but I have an external
monitor attached. When I'm done working I will put it to sleep by pressing
Command + Option + Eject on my external apple bluetooth keyboard, and when I
want to wake it up I will just press the Control key on the bluetoot
Possibly. Apple has a support article about it here:

You have to turn on your bluetooth wake settings among other things, but
they assume you have an external monitor hooked up (which is probably
the typical case).

HI folks:
As the subject line says, Is it possible to change a setting on the MBP to
allow it to remain on with the lid closed? I just got a bluetooth keyboard and
want to know if I can close the lid and leave the MBP on the table while I use
the BT keyboard.
Thanks for any input! :)
