Here is the recent post I made to the list about opening XML files in Safari.
Please note to enable the "Develop" menu, go into Safari preferences with
command+comma, then go to the advanced tab, and you should have an option in

there is a software called read out loud and there is a version for Mac to read
bookshare books. This is what I have been using although it is a bit buggy at
times. Hope this helps. You can get it from bookshare.org website.
