Hi Traci,
As far as modems go I like the Motorola one's on amazon. I bought one
and have had no trouble with it. What I did was dump the X1 package
(which went from $129 to $199 without notice) and just went to Xfinity
internet with my own modem. Also if you get your own modem you save
$10 a month
Thank you, it does help.
I have tossed around the idea of buying our own router/modem, but don’t really
know what to choose. We don’t pay for the fastest Internet, but it works enough
for our household. It might be something like up to 150 Mb per second. I

Hi Tracey,
You don't need the airport router anymore! They are so out of date.
One other note is that I'm not crazy about routers given by your ISP,

Apparently, I can set up this new router via the xFinity app. Any tips on

Hi,
The Extreme has a more powerful processor in it so it can better handle the big
demands for bandwidth. For normal household use though, this may not be a
factor. The Extreme also has more ethernet ports for more wired connectivity.

Hello:
As the subject line implies, I'm considering strongly purchasing one of these
devices. After reviewing the specs of both devices, I cannot see that there is
a major difference between these 2 units regarding overall network
functionality. Obviously, the Extreme costs quite a bit more than

FYI. My parents' router crashed. I picked them up an Airport Extreme at the
Apple store. It was very simple, and accessible to setup. My Mac is super fast!
I highly recommend it. I can't belive how simple the setup process was.
