Personally, I swear by Airfoil. It's simply fantastic! You can send the same
audio to multiple devices, including airplay speakers, bluetooth speakers and
iOS devices.
The demo lets you send audio for 10 minutes and then will produce static. I
think its around $25 or $35.

What device are you sending the AirPlay to? For fun, I just sent to a Apple TV
2 and the VoiceOver sound remained on my computer. It's possible that when
AirPlaying to such devices from the Mac, you are sending both the audio and
video signal to the device. If so, that is possibly why it

output in system preferences. And from what was described, it sounds like
