Thanks Ann, I'm probably going to give Pages a try. I've been using Word and
am very happy with it, but I want some fluency with word processing on the
Mac as well.

Hello Phil,
You don't need a word processor to print envelopes, Contacts (or Address Book
on earlier versions of OS x) will do the job. You can also set up label prints
with it.
However, Pages does offer a choice of envelope templates should you prefer that
solution.

How well does Pages do envelopes? That's one of the things I like most about
Word. If Pages will do envelope printing, then I think I'll give it a try.

Hi.
I think I converted the manual to epub file, and when I could search in that
file in ibooks on my IPhone.
I have tried more wordprocessors. Textedit can be used, if you need to simple
text editing. To me it would be enough in most cases.
I am using nisus writer pro sometimes, especially if
TextEdit is part of OS X.

Hello Marc,
Text Edit comes with your Mac. It can be found in your Applications folder,
Launchpad, etc.

Just fyi, I ended up going with iText Express. I searched for text
edit but it didn't come up in the app store. Not sure if it isn't
available in Canada or something but I had no luck in finding it.

Hello Chris and all,
My concern about Nisus Writer is the documentation, which seems to be a
hard-to-read scanned PDF with no indexed help file.

If all you are looking to do is basic word processing, I'd say Text
Edit should work fine. Although, iText Express is free as far as I can
remember, so if you're not getting enough out of Text Edit, you may
want to give it a try.
Best of luck,

As of right now, I don't need to get very fancy at all so I think I'll
give text edit a whirl tonight. Thanks for the help!

Hi. iText express is also pretty good if we're talking accessible word
processors for the mac. also Nisus writer I think, although I probably have
the spelling wrong and I don't personally own this yet but have heard it's
accessible.

Hi there
If your main thing is RTF files, it is very likely that TextEdit will work for
you. What you might want to do, is start out with text edit, and then if you
need Pages, you can get it. To get it you just go to the app store. I paid a
big $21.64 for mine,.

Hey all,
This is pretty simple. I just need a word processor to handle working
with .rtf files. I guess the ability to open other formats would be
good as well, but my main use will be editing .rtf files. The person
who came to assess me for my computer mentioned that Pages was
accessible but I wa
