Just to offer another option, one does not have to purchase a new TV to be
able to use the Apple TV. One can simply purchase an HDMI to standard video
convertor. It is a small box which contains an HDMI input and RCA type
output jacks and last I checked, sold for somewhere in the $60 range.

Greetings one and all. Well, the subject line says it all. I am thinking of
giving an Apple TV as a Birthday present and would like opinions on this
device. I have read a number of reviews on the web which claim that the Apple
TV has problems with streaming video such as stuttering and freezing,
I would just like to point out that this is not an OCR app for the blind.
Rather it is geared towards those who have some usable vision much like zoom
text is. If one buys this app with the expectation that it will be an ocr
solution for the blind, one will be disappointment. The fact that peopl

Understood. I was just trying to make sure to point out all the possible

have an Apple store near you, that you just go and
an adapter that plugs into the air for ethernet connectivity.
Just pointing that out.
Firewire...I have never used it. I haven't even seen it in use.
What is it mainly used for?

I could be wrong, but I believe you can get the air with a 256 gb ssd and
the 13 inch air does have the sd card reader just like the pro. However, the
pro does add the benefit of the super drive as well as lan and firewire
ports which the air does not come with. Hope this helps a bit.

Agreed. The air is a really nice machine. If you have the means and wouldn't
mind a slightly larger machine though, I hardily recomamnd the 13 inch air with
the faster cpu and twice the capacity of the ssd. I have the 13 inch air with

Greetings all. A friend who is looking to buy a macbook asked me this and
rather then speculating as to the answer, I thought I'd ask here. Does the
current line of macbooks support the use of gestures like on the iPhone via the

I can't give to much info yet because our Dish service won't be installed
until Saturday, but the latest generation of Dish DVR boxes will give you
complete control via the Dish iPhone app. If you have an iPhone or iPod
touch that is. You can search for programs set recordings and even locate

Ben, if you had read the post more carefully, perhaps you wouldn't have been
so quick to fly off the handle? The question was if there exists a portable
monitor not how portable the mini is. To answer the original question
though, the smallest monitor I have come across, was a screen size of 12
Why all the hostility on your part? Telling some one else on list that they
have to grow up just because they expressed their opinion shows a lack of
