Epub is just a fancy name for a zip file with the HTML book and some
other files specific to ebook readers. Why not just change the file
extension to .zip extract the archive and load index.html in your
favourite browser.

Good, I hope they get this working as my next forced upgrade will likely
be Apple hardware and I wouldn't want to be without my firefox and
browser extensions. Hopefully they can get thunderbird working as well.
