Sounds like you failed to clear the edit field when doing the initial Save/Save As. Try the following to rename the document. With the document open, do the following: 1. Go to the Menu Bar > File Menu. 2. From the File menu, select Rename. 3. Here you can correct the current name of the file,

The first time you save a file in text edit, you are prompted to edit the file name. But after that, you are no longer prompted. If I decide to change a file name after I’ve saved it, I just select the file in iCloud or documents or wherever it is. You can then press enter on the file name, and
