Try turning off bluetooth on the iPhone.
This should help determine if the issue has to do with a bluetooth device.

I agree that the lack of feedback when making a the request with the side
button is extremely annoying. And as for haptic feedback, I have never once
gotten it since I upgraded to iOS 17. I get no feedback of any type. I don’t
think that’s OK.
