interesting. My mom's not all that particular about having the latest and
greatest, so if it's slow under both Big Sur and Catalina, maybe I will just
leave it with its current OS.

That's what I was thinking, but I just wasn't sure whether to go all the way up
to Big Sur, or just upgrade to Catalina.

I have a late 2013 model MacBook Pro that is running Big Sur without any
apparent issues (apart from known Big Sur bugs, of course).
It's probably faster than your MacBook Air. Performance is rather slow,
but not obviously more so than under Catalina.

I’d just wipe it, and reload High Sierra.
Let the new owner decide what they want to do.

okay then.
my two cents.
Leave the unit running the system best for the hardware itself, something
I imagine is easily discovered by either consulting apple's site or

Same reasoning however. you want to sell from a place of, I now it works

Additionally, if you now firmly that the machine runs well with its

Largely because you cannot guarantee the quality of what you are selling.

BTW while on this overall topic, is it still possible to downgrade from
Catalina to Mojave?

+1 from me, too. If it’s already on Catalina, I’d think that’s a good starting
point for whoever gets it. Besides, why should use your valuable time to do the
upgrade? If it were me, I’d simply indicate that the computer is on Catalina
and let whoever buys it decide whether or not to upgrade. Yo
Personally I would be looking for a MacBook with Mojave, to use with older
applications on that older hardware platform. Then could upgrade my current
Mac to Big Sur.

Hi all, I agree with Robert. I would let the user decide if they want to
upgrade or not.
God bless.

Hi,
I am writing to add my two cents, If it was me, I would leave it on Catalina
and let the new owner upgrade if they want to.
I don’t know how well that model will run Big Sur. This is just my opinion.

Hi all,
I have a 2013 Macbook Air that I’m getting redy to sell. I’m trying to decide
whether to upgrade it to Big Sur or Catalina. Since I’m going to sell it, VO
issues with Big Sur are not of primary concern. So, is anyone running Big Sur
on one of these Macs? If so, does it run OK?
TIA,
D
