In the File menu, if you hold down the OPTION key, the Duplicate command
changes to Save As.
Or, just use the keyboard command CMD + OPT + SHIFT + S for Save As while
working in a document.

currently in beta, but I’ve run it here, and all seems fine here, not having

In order to export text into writer from the reader app, select the “document“
button at the top left next to the library button. Then select “export all
text“. In the share sheet that appears you are looking for “copy to writer“.
Recent version updates have buried this copy to writer in the “
