I've not yet dealt with zip files on MacOS, but know in Windows land I always
unzip to a directory prior to copying to the stream.

I can't see the problem at the first look.
However, I can say that safari and braille are not always working good
together, and specially since safari 5, the braille is going away after typing
some words in formfields.
This is very frustrating and Apple will solve this but we don't
