I reinstalled my osx - Yosemite.
I downloaded the commandline tools of xcode to use with macports.
I get a message saying xcode could not be found, however ports are installed.
I aim to get the xcode from the app store, 12something as I recall.
Will it work in Yosemite or do I need an

How do I change perl5 so as to use perl5.26 rather than perl5.24?
I find:
[me]$ sudo port installed |grep perl5
...
perl5 @5.24.2_0+perl5_24 (active)
perl5.24 @5.24.2_0 (active)
perl5.26 @5.26.0_2 (active)
I tried:

A lot of PEAR modules including pear-Mail were added to MacPorts at the end of
2011 [1] but haven't really been updated since. They probably all need to be

There are complaints on the Octave list that Octave on MacPorts is out of date
and that support has moved to homebrew. I don’t use Octave much but would also
appreciate it being kept up-to-date on MacPorts.

Our MacPorts version is the latest released version, but homebrew has a +HEAD
option for building the tip of the dev tree for most of their software, and we
don't support that. Perhaps that's what they are talking about.
It seems to me the tip of the octave dev tree has evolved quite a bit from
