as an update.
I went to github website, downloaded with
wget
https://github.com/openssl/openssl/releases/download/openssl-3.4.1/openssl-3.4.1.tar.gz
into:
/opt/local/var/macports/distfiles/openssl3
This allowed the build to start! But fails to build:
tmp -c -o crypto/libcrypto-lib-th

attempting to upgrade on my 10.5 Leopard MacBook - one of the first
ports to upgrade is openssl.
It cycles through a long list of , trying a lot of mirrors. At first, i
thought some strange issue with 10.5. Then I opened some of the URLs
printed out in a browser and I see it goes up to 3
